چکیده

Simple ictal or interictal automatisms are commonly seen in epilepsy, whereas complex automatisms are rare. Simple ictal vocalizations or appendicular automatisms have been reported to be due to mesial temporal lobe epilepsy. However, seizure-associated singing and dancing is very rare. We report a seventeen-year-old patient with ictal singing and rhythmic swinging of the arms as a dancing gesture. The video-EEG recording showed ictal left temporal lateralization and neuropathology confirmed left mesial temporal sclerosis. [Pusblished with video sequences].

Ictal singing: case report and reappraisal of the literature.

Singing is a rare ictal symptom of focal epilepsy. We report a case of a left-handed woman, with no musical education, experiencing refractory seizures consisting of the singing of a popular Portuguese folksong, with simultaneous, rhythmic hand clapping. A left mesial temporal sclerosis was successfully treated by selective amygdalohippocampectomy. As in most previously reported cases, the epil...

Ictal singing due to right mesial temporal lobe epilepsy involving a bihemispheric network☆

Singing is a rare ictal symptom of focal epilepsy. Here, we report a case of a right-handed patient who demonstrated ictal singing due to right mesial temporal lobe epilepsy. Subtraction ictal SPECT coregistered to MRI (SISCOM) performed during ictal singing demonstrated areas of hyperperfusion in the bilateral frontal regions (more prominent in the left frontal lobe), bilateral subcortical reg...

Clinical and EEG analysis of mesial and lateral temporal lobe seizures.

The analysis of the temporal lobe seizures through video-EEG systems shows that they often consist of a sequence of clinical and EEG features which may suggest the localization and the lateralization of the epileptogenic lobe. We analyzed clinical and EEG features of 50 temporal lobe seizures which were separated in group 1 with 25 patients (related to mesial temporal sclerosis) and group 2 wit...
